There are a lot of rumors recently that GeForce GTX 1080 Ti might see the light of day early next year the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which is the world’s largest electronics, next-generation innovations, and consumer technology trade show.
CES takes place every January in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be held between 5th and 8th of January, 2017.
The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card is expected to be based on the GP102 chip with the same 16nm design as the GTX Titan X. On the other side, AMD Radeon RX490 graphics processor is made with the 14nm FinFET technology. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card will have 12 billion transistors and will be equipped with 12GB of GDDR5 memory running across a 384bit memory interface. It is the same chip that powers the Titan X graphics card, but it will be a cut-down version of the NVIDIAs top-tier graphics card, utilizing 3328 as opposed to the 3584 CUDA cores.
The base clock should be 1.503 MHz vs 1417 MHz on the Titan X graphics card, so it will be clocked higher. The boost clock will be raised to 1623 MHz. The clock speed of AMD Radeon RX 490 graphics card is only at 1200MHz. The NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti graphics card will use the slower GDDR5 memory that’s currently installed on the lower tier GTX 1070 and GTX 1060 graphics cards. It is likely that the hardware details could slightly change before the actual debut.
The power consumption of the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti graphics card will be higher than that of the Radeon RX490. It is speculated that the GTX 1080 Ti graphics card should consume up to 250 Watts, while the AMD Radeon RX490 will take up 225 Watts under maximum load.
The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card will be cheaper than the big brother – Titan X graphics card, without compromising its performance. Most likely, the price should be somewhere between $700 and $1,100.
